Antonio E Costa's upcoming solo show at The Fine Art Company draws inspiration from Haiku Moments. The artist sees a landscape in its totality - air, earth and water - stripped down to its essentials. However, the singularity of each work lies in the juxtaposition of two images or ideas, which are expressed with delicacy and force. These two elements, seemingly contradictory, have to be fused together with spontaneity, sensitivity of emotion as well as with strength of technique. Haiku is traditionally a short form of Japanese poetry, printed in a single line. A Haiku Moment is the moment of their lives that has moved or a piece of experience that has changed their perspective.
