A Madball Company / Dur Se Brothers / Niloufer Sagar presentation - International Commedia day.
Young lovers, greedy old men, know-it-all professors, sneaky servants, and boasting heroes are some of the peculiar and crazy characters that feature in Commedia Dell` Arte, the Italian form of masked theatre which roughly translates to comedy of craft. Dating all the way back to the 16th century, this universal and highly entertaining form of theatre has influenced Shakespeare, Moliere, opera, vaudeville, contemporary musical theatre, and even todays television sitcoms. Each February 25th the world celebrates International Commedia Day, and for the very first time India will join the celebration. Come mark the day by attending this evening of short and insane sketches with fast-paced humour and physical finesse by some of the city`s finest actors, including Yuki Ellias and Deepal Doshi (one of only two artists invited to perform at the Canadian University of Windsors international conference, Crossing Boundaries: Commedia DellArte across Gender, Genre and Geography).
Cast: Deepal Doshi, Kathryn Tabone Doshi, Yuki Elias, Padma Damodaran, Siddhant Karnik, Dev Nair, Timira Gupta, Vikrant Dhote
